i am a technical idiot when it comes to how the camera operates so do not feel alone! and as horst says, YOU make the picture, not the camera.

aw...thanks Marianne.

just sometimes--knowing how to accomplish something--makes it that much easier.

Marianne and Horst are correct.
There are many approaches to the craft. You can carry a Holga and get to know it and use it intuitively in lieu of the mechanics....does that make you less of an atrtist?
If a painter uses certain brushes simply because they "feel" right withouot knowledge of their manufacture or source of materials...does it make her less of a painter?

I like your analogy of the painter.
that makes sense.
thanks Mark!.

i know...i have learned the ins and outs of fstops and exposure but still rely on a light meter for everything..

:giggle: i have seen those light meters around...--but that would add to my confusion.
ignorance has its moments of affording bliss.
